Your favourite football columnist / broadcaster
For me it's Gregor Robertson. Had an average career as a pro footballer (for which he left school at about 15) but now he's a staff member on The Times and Times Radio. Unlike most ex-pros he doesn't use cliches and is witty, articulate and realistic. What a difference from all those ex-players wheeled out as pundits who (with some exceptions, maybe Shearer and Ian Wright) have little insight and no originality.

Shearer and Wright show insight and originality?

Shearer is a monotone cliche machine and Wright is like a small child who almost never criticises players.

I like Johnathan Pearce too.

I used to regularly take him around on the bike and I've never met anyone which such encyclopaedic knowledge, particularly sport.

Once we'd got off the subject of West Ham (he loves us) he'd talk to you about MotoGP, World Superbikes or any other subject particularly sport of course.

It's the first time that I have ever thought 'fucking hell, some pundits know their stuff'. I had always assumed that they just get a bunch of stats given to them five minutes before the game.
